Replacing HRSG penetration seals without compromising service life

Penetrating Seal Replacements

Many HRSG owners in the past have discovered this truth – replacing a leaking metal bellows penetration seal with the original profile results in a new part that has HALF the life as the original.

This is a direct result of the replacement part having to be installed in halves – the difficult field welding of those small thin convolutions cannot compare to the quality of the original weld.

To obtain a service life equal to or exceeding those original metal seals, a design is required that is easier to install and has greater flexibility.

The deep single convolution (supplied in pairs) is designed to be more flexible than the original part. In addition the deep convolution is thicker and lends itself well to achieving a good quality field weld of the bellows halves.

The field-installed, deep profile convolution can hold up to the daily cycling of HRSG’s used for peaking power demands.

These parts, supplied in halves, can be installed by the Oakridge Bellows field crew or by experienced plant maintenance personnel
